This was not an event; it was faithfulness.
Our church worked through the day at an elementary school in our area. We painted, cleaned, and performed all those little jobs that may go unnoticed but make a huge impact. It was humble, practical, and necessary.
No platform, only servanthood.
Because loving a community is not just about saying it but doing it. This sometimes involves rolling up your sleeves and tackling the job before you.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
Not for accolades but to leave a positive legacy.
The Church Outside the Walls
A Little Light in a Hard Place
This was no menial labor, this was devoted labor.
We entered yet another church to provide aid for battered women by doing what had to be done; washing dishes, making meals, assisting in creating an environment where there was just a bit more stability, a bit more care.
Not the focus of attention. Not being noticed.
Just being present. Because sometimes love does not shout; it serves.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
1 John 3:18 (NIV)
This was what that was about.
